Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Why Miami Homeowners Choose DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning

We provide independent Miami Duraflex service for chimney cleaning, inspection, and repair throughout the area, from Coral Gables to Kendall. Most DuraFlex liner cleanings run between $189 and $279, and we always hand you a written price before any work starts. What sets our work apart is simple: we know exactly how DuraFlex AL, 316L, Pro, and Rigid liners behave in Miami’s salt-air humidity, and we show you the inside of your flue with a camera before recommending anything.

Ashby Chimney Miami has worked on DuraFlex rigid and flexible liner systems across South Florida since 2002, from multi-story condo retrofits in Brickell to single-family homes in Kendall, and we also offer Duraflex service in Hialeah. We are fully independent of the manufacturer. That means when we inspect a DuraFlex liner in Miami, we’re telling you what we actually see, not what a warranty line wants us to push. We stock genuine DuraFlex couplers, top plates, rain caps, and tees for fast repairs, but we will also tell you plainly when a heavier-gauge aftermarket 316L liner would outperform the original spec in a coastal environment.

Key Takeaways

  • DuraFlex chimney cleaning in Miami typically runs $189 to $279, with a written price before we begin.
  • We service all four major DuraFlex lines: AL, 316L, Pro, and Rigid 316L.
  • Miami’s salt air and humidity accelerate pinhole corrosion in DuraFlex AL liners faster than almost any other U.S. climate.
  • We’re independent of the manufacturer, so our repair-versus-replace advice is based on what we see, not what a warranty line dictates.
  • Every repair carries the Kingswell Guarantee in writing. If it fails inside the guarantee period, we return at no charge.

Why Trust Ashby Chimney Miami for Your DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning?

Our technicians work on DuraFlex systems every single week in Miami and North Miami Beach Duraflex service is also available. We know what a healthy 316L flex liner looks like coming out of a 1990s Coral Gables fireplace, and we know what a salt-corroded AL liner looks like after ten years on a gas insert near the bay. That familiarity matters when you’re deciding between a $300 patch and a $2,800 reline.

Nathan Corliss, our owner and lead technician, grew up in Los Angeles and trained at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending the better part of three decades working chimneys and fireplaces across South Florida. He has cleaned and inspected everything from older Coral Gables estate homes to new construction in Brickell. Nathan has pulled enough DuraFlex liners out of Miami chimneys to know exactly where they fail first in this climate: at the tee, at the top plate, and along the first bend near the appliance collar. His rule is simple, and he says it on job sites all the time: “Tell me the price first, then explain the work – everything else is just noise.”

Every DuraFlex service call includes a camera inspection with a photo report, which is part of our thorough Chimney Sweep process. You see what we see before you approve any work. The written price we hand you at the door is the price on the invoice. No switching, no surprises.

Common DuraFlex Chimney Cleaning Problems We Fix in Miami

  • Pinhole corrosion in DuraFlex AL liners. DuraFlex AL is an aluminum flex liner built for gas appliances. The failure we see most often in Miami is pinhole corrosion near the top of the liner, driven by acidic condensate on short gas-vent runs. Salt air accelerates it badly. A liner that would last 15 years in Orlando might fail in 8 here, especially within a mile or two of Biscayne Bay.
  • Ovaling and kinking of DuraFlex 316L flex during uninsulated installations. When a 316L flex liner runs through an offset flue without a proper insulation wrap, it ovales at the offsets. That creates a creosote trap. We see this constantly in Miami’s mid-century ranches where older installs cut corners. The symptom is a fireplace that drafts fine for twenty minutes, then starts smoking back into the room as the flue heats and the ovaled section expands.
  • Disconnected or torn liner joints at the tee or top plate. Miami’s thermal expansion cycles are relentless. A liner heats to 400°F during a burn, cools to 80°F in the humidity, and repeats that cycle thousands of times. The joints at the tee and top plate are the first to fail. We find torn seams, pulled couplings, and in several cases, top plates lifted clear off the crown by wildlife pressure.
  • Clogged or melted DuraFlex Pro liners on wood stoves. DuraFlex Pro is a heavier-wall 316L liner built for wood stove applications. The consistent problem we see in Miami involves rain caps that were never installed or got blown off during tropical storms. Leaves, palm fronds, and the occasional iguana fall in. On a hot-burning wood stove, that debris can clog the liner and, in the worst cases, warp or melt the wall. A missing rain cap on a DuraFlex Pro is a five-minute fix that prevents a $2,000 failure.
  • Creosote buildup in DuraFlex 316L liners from unseasoned live oak. Miami isn’t a big wood-burning market, but the homeowners who do burn often burn whatever tropical hardwood is available, much of it green. Green live oak produces heavy, sticky creosote that coats the corrugated walls of a 316L flex liner fast. We see liners reduced from 6 inches to less than 3 inches of clear passage in a single season of unseasoned burning.

DuraFlex Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We keep genuine DuraFlex components in stock for common liner repairs: couplers, top plates, rain caps, tees, and connector adapters in 4-inch through 8-inch diameters. When you call us about a rust hole in a DuraFlex AL liner, we can usually patch it the same visit if the surrounding metal is still sound.

But we don’t blindly push OEM parts. For high-heat or salt-exposed replacements, we sometimes recommend a heavier-gauge aftermarket 316L liner if it will outlast the original spec in Miami’s coastal air. The Kingswell Guarantee covers every repair we make, in writing, for the full guarantee period. If the repair fails, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it applies to every DuraFlex repair we perform.

Our honest answer on repair versus replace: we repair a sound DuraFlex liner whenever the corrosion is localized and patchable. If the liner is pitted through in multiple spots or the metal has thinned beyond a safe wall thickness, we tell you straight, show you the camera footage, and give you a written price to reline. We never recommend a full reline because one small section rusted through. Call (850) 787-8597 and we’ll tell you what we see.

Our DuraFlex Service Process – Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis with camera. We run a high-resolution camera through your entire DuraFlex liner, from the appliance collar to the rain cap. You’ll see every joint, seam, and anomaly on our monitor in real time. In Miami’s humidity, we pay particular attention to the top plate and the first bend above the appliance, where condensation and salt corrosion concentrate.
  2. 2
Repair or install. If a section of DuraFlex has failed, we cut out the damaged portion and splice in a new section using genuine DuraFlex couplers or a compatible 316L patch. Every seam gets sealed with high-temp silicone rated for liner temperatures. If it’s a fresh install, we size the liner to the exact appliance output and flue dimensions, insulating where Miami’s humidity demands it.
  3. 3
Test under fire. We don’t leave until the system drafts correctly. For gas vent liners, that means checking the connector, the termination, and the condensation path. For wood-burning liners, we’ll run a small test fire and watch the draft pull.
  4. 4
Written warranty. Every DuraFlex repair or install includes the Kingswell Guarantee in writing. The guarantee covers the repair for the full guarantee period. If it fails, we come back at no charge. That’s the whole point of Ashby Chimney Miami: a chimney company that owns its word.

DuraFlex Products We Service & Install in Miami

We service and install the full DuraFlex family. DuraFlex AL, the aluminum flex liner built for gas appliances, is the most common liner we see in Miami’s condos and townhomes. DuraFlex 316L, the stainless flex liner for wood, pellet, and oil, shows up in mid-century ranches and older homes across Kendall and Coral Gables. DuraFlex Pro, the heavier-wall 316L flex liner, handles wood stove installations and higher-temperature burns. And DuraFlex Rigid 316L, the smooth-wall rigid sections, offers better draft and easier cleaning for straight flue runs in newer construction.

We stock common components for all four lines locally, which means faster turnaround on repair work than waiting on a special order.

We Also Service These Brands

DuraFlex isn’t the only liner brand we work on. We also service and install HeatShield and Gelco systems throughout Miami. If your chimney has a different liner and you’re not sure what it is, we’ll identify it during our inspection and give you the same straight answer we’d give on any DuraFlex system.
