Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Fireplace Repair in Miami: What to Know First
DuraFlex fireplace repair in Miami typically runs between $225 and $1,850 depending on whether we’re replacing a thermocouple, repairing a firebox panel, or relining a section of the flue. Most jobs are completed in a single two-to-four hour visit, and we carry the common DuraFlex parts on the truck so we’re not making you wait on a second trip. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and a written guarantee when we leave.
This page is for Miami homeowners who own a fireplace with DuraFlex components and need someone to fix it without the usual contractor games. If that’s you, call (850) 787-8597 and a live person answers, day or night.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
DuraFlex makes solid products, but every brand has its weak points. Here’s what we actually see in Miami homes, model line by model line.
- DuraFlex 316L stainless liners – pitting at the firebox connection. The 316L alloy handles heat well, but Miami’s salt air and humidity work on the lower six to eight inches of liner where it meets the firebox. We regularly find pinhole corrosion there on liners that look perfectly fine higher up. The fix is a targeted section replacement, not a full reline, which saves our customers about 60% versus what they’d been quoted elsewhere.
- DuraFlex Pro liner – sagging between support brackets. The Pro series is a heavier gauge, which is good for wood-burning applications, but it’s also stiffer and more prone to developing a belly when the original install skipped a bracket. A sagged liner traps creosote at the low point and becomes a chimney fire risk. We re-support the liner and sweep it clean, then camera-verify the finished run.
- DuraFlex DirectVent Pro – gasket compression set at the termination plate. This is the line we see most often in newer Miami condos and townhomes with gas fireplaces. The silicone gaskets at the top plate lose their rebound after five to seven years of coastal temperature swings and start letting rain water track down the outside of the vent. The symptom is water staining on the ceiling near the fireplace chase. We replace the gaskets and reseal with a high-temp marine-grade silicone rated for continuous 500°F exposure.
- DuraFlex Aluminum 3003 liners – galvanic corrosion from mixed-metals flue caps. The aluminum liner itself is fine on gas appliances. The problem comes when someone installed a steel cap directly against it without a dielectric break. Salt air plus two dissimilar metals equals corrosion at the contact point. We cut out the corroded section, install a proper transition, and your liner is good for another decade.
- Fireplace inserts with DuraFlex connectors – draft collapse from an oversized liner adapter. This one’s easy to miss. A homeowner replaces their insert but the installer reuses the old, larger-diameter DuraFlex connector with a reducer that necks down too abruptly. Draft stalls, the glass soots up, and the gas logs won’t stay lit reliably. We re-calc the correct sizing for your firebox opening and chimney height, then install the properly matched connector.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Repair Process
You’ll know the price before the first screw comes out of the van. Here’s how a typical DuraFlex repair goes with us.
- 1
You call, a human picks up. We ask what your fireplace is doing, what brand components you have, and what you’ve already tried. We’ll give you a straight answer on whether it sounds like a quick fix or a bigger job, and what the likely range is.
- 2
We show up in the window we gave you. Your technician is background-checked and in uniform. We set down drop cloths before we touch anything.
- 3
Diagnosis with evidence. We camera the flue, test the draft, and check gas pressures where applicable. If we find a problem, we show you the footage or the reading. You’re not taking anyone’s word for anything.
- 4
Written price, approved before work. We hand you the number. It doesn’t change at the end. If we find something else mid-repair, work stops until you’ve seen it and approved a revised written price.
- 5
Repair with the right parts. We prefer genuine DuraFlex components for warranty-sensitive repairs. Where a quality aftermarket part is functionally identical and saves you real money, we’ll tell you that too and let you choose.
- 6
Test, cleanup, guarantee in writing. We fire the unit, verify draft and flame pattern, and walk you through exactly what we did. You get a written guarantee before we leave, and if a covered repair fails, we come back free.

FAQs
No, not when the repair is done correctly. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, which means we’re not affiliated with the manufacturer, but we follow DuraFlex installation specs and use genuine DuraFlex components on warranty-sensitive repairs so your original coverage stays intact. If we’re ever unsure, we’ll call the manufacturer on your behalf before we start.
We stock the common DuraFlex connectors, gaskets, and igniter components on the truck, so most repairs are done same-visit. For less common sections or specific DirectVent Pro components, we can typically source parts within two to four business days.
If the firebox shell is intact and the gas valve still holds pressure, repair is almost always the better call financially. We’ll show you the camera footage and the test numbers, and we’ll tell you honestly if a repair would just be buying you a year when replacement is the smarter long-term move. Call (850) 787-8597 and we’ll help you decide based on evidence, not guesswork.
If a covered repair fails inside the guarantee period, you call us and we come back at no charge. That’s the Kingswell Guarantee in writing, and it’s included with every job. No service call fee, no prorating, no argument.
Yes, all three. Most of the DuraFlex work we do in Miami is on gas fireplaces and inserts, but we repair and maintain wood-burning units too. The failure modes are different for each fuel type, and we diagnose them accordingly.
